To get started, contact us by filling out the "Contact Us" form or by calling or emailing. When you call or email, say you want to participate in the NOA study. One of the researchers on the NOA study will connect with you to ask you some questions about you and your child and tell you a bit about the study. Then, we will set up a time for you to come to the lab.
Your first visit will take approximately 4 hours.
First Visit:
EEG
During your visit, we will conduct an EEG with your child, which gathers data on your child's brain activity. The EEG is non-invasive and safe and only requires your child to sit in a chair while they are fitted with a cap and have the sensors put on their head. While wearing the EEG, your child will do some computer activities and win prizes.

First Visit: Interview
While the child is having their EEG, you will complete an interview with a researcher. The researcher will ask about you and your child, including questions about your child’s moods and behaviors and your family’s mental health history.
First Visit:
Other Tasks
Before the EEG, your child will be asked some questions by a trained researcher. After the EEG, your child will complete behavioral tasks. Then, you and your child will complete some activities together.

The tasks in both follow-up sessions will be very similar to the first session, including interviews and questionnaires for you that will be audio recorded, your child completing activities with a trained researcher, and an EEG while your child is doing some computer activities to win prizes. These sessions will last approximately 2.5-3 hours each.
